Salty Ceramics
5 Private Wheel Throwing Classes with Open Studio Time
Ready to get your hands dirty and make some pottery with private one on one instruction?
In 6 sessions you will learn the fundamentals of pottery from start to finish. Whether you are a beginner who has never touched clay or someone looking to brush up on their skills this class is perfect for you and will feature one on one hands on instruction. This class mainly focuses on mugs, bowls and plates but I welcome you to be as creative as you want. I can also work with you on specific skills or specific pieces if you’re experienced and wanting to learn new techniques. We will go over throwing, trimming, carving/attaching, handles, decorating, glazing and more.
This class will be instructed by Meghan Angelis, owner of Salty Ceramics with 15 years of experience. The day and time is scheduled at your convenience. The cost of this series is $350 per person and includes one 25 pound block of clay. You can choose from the variety of 6 different clays we have in stock. Additional clay will be available for purchase however you typically only need the one block. This includes use of shared community tools, glaze materials, and kiln firings. You'll also receive shelf space for storing your in-progress work.
**Please bring a medium to larger Tupperware container for reclaim clay. This is for all your scraps that we will reuse so no clay is wasted.
This class is for ages 15 and up.
If you would like additional time in the studio, we have open studio times from 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday. Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday nights will be available until 8pm. This is included in the price of the class. When you come in for open studio time there will be people to ask questions but no instruction.
All Sales are final. No refunds or transferring to other classes. If you miss a week you will not be refunded for that day but we do offer one make up day of your choosing. You are also welcome to come to open studio time. The last 2 classes of the sessions will be for finishing up your pieces and glazing.
Please note: Some pieces will not make it through the firings. This happens in pottery and especially with beginners. Salty Ceramics is not liable for any broken or lost pieces. Make sure to sign everything.
Please include your number when you purchase the class or contact Meghan at 910-945-9238 to schedule.
