6 Week Ceramic Hand Building Class
In 6 weeks you will learn the fundamentals of ceramic hand building technics. Whether you are a beginner who has never touched clay or someone looking to brush up on their skills this class is perfect for you and will feature hands on instruction. This class mainly focuses on skill building of hand building with clay. Although we have specific pieces we will focus on to create, we welcome you to be as creative as you want. We will learn basic hand-building technics such as pinch pots, coil building and slab making. As well as clay preparation, tools, and the creativity process.
This class will be instructed by Kim Waller of Waller Works and Wares. Your class will be once a week for 2.5 hours for 6 weeks on the specific day you signed up for. The cost of this series is $250 per person and includes 1 block of 25 pounds of brown speckled clay. Additional clay will be available for purchase however you typically only need the one block. This includes use of shared community tools, glaze materials, and kiln firings. You'll also receive shelf space for storing your in-progress work and unlimited time in the studio during member hours
**Please bring a medium to large Tupperware container for reclaim clay. This is for all your scraps that we will reuse so no clay is wasted.
This class is for ages 13 and up.
If you would like additional time in the studio, we have open studio times:
Monday 10-7pm
Tuesday 10-8pm
Wednesday 10-8pm
Thursday 10-8pm
Friday 10-7pm
Saturday 10-7pm
Studio time is included in the price of the class. When you come in for open studio time there will be people to ask questions but no instruction. You can also come early on your class day if you prefer.
All Sales are final. No refunds or transferring to other classes. If you miss a week you will not be refunded for that day but we do offer one make up day of your choosing. You are also welcome to come to open studio time. The last 2 classes of the sessions will be for finishing up your pieces and glazing.
Please note: Some pieces will not make it through the firings. This happens in pottery and especially with beginners. Salty Ceramics is not liable for any broken or lost pieces. Make sure to sign everything.

I consent to all of the studio guidelines and hereby release Salty Ceramics, its representatives and employees from all liabilities, actions, claims, damages and expenses in which I am now or in the future have against them, arising out of or in any way connected with my participation in a membership or classes. I understand there are potential risks, including physical injury, related to the activities, including, but not limited to: The use of pottery equipment, including pottery wheels, tools, and kilns. Being exposed to ceramic materials, including glaze and clay chemicals. Hazardous floors due to slippery surfaces, uneven surfaces, power cords, and other hazards. By electing to participate in a membership or class, I hereby voluntarily assume such risks. I acknowledge that if I leave the studio for any reason, I will not be entitled to additional time or a refund. I acknowledge that I am liable for unintentionally or negligently damaging any items on the premises at Salty Ceramics. I acknowledge that if I do not follow any of the guidelines above my membership may be subject to termination.
